Ellia and I are SO different in some ways- she experiences emotion much more passionately than I and I struggle sometimes to know how to relate and provide comfort in the midst of her breakdowns when I just want to say "you're fine- you fell in the snow and your hands are cold! It's NOT a big deal." But to her, it IS a big deal and part of my job as her mom is to affirm her feelings and help her work through them. There's definitely a line between babying my kids and ignoring their feelings just because I wouldn't react the same way. So here I am rolling my eyes inside my head warming her hands with mine and trying to calm her down so she won't completely nix playing in the snow forever... when Aubrie (who had just been covered with snow and was totally fine) comes over and takes her other hand, wipes it off with a papertowel and says "sawy Eh-yah, cold." Gahhh these kids are always teaching me things 💜
