How do people cope with 2 under 4 if you have to work full time as well as bring work home and dont have family for childcare??

I’m not back at work yet but have a childminder booked, I won’t be making much money but I like working. I work late a lot so meal prep in freezer, slow cooker and cleaning when I can

It's a juggling act. I used to work 4full days & I must admit I was glad I had the 5th day off. I work 5days now but 7am-3pm so I can still do school pick up. Having a supportive partner helps. We both do our part around the house. Some days I feel like I have it other days I don't know-how I got my top on inside out & back to front. Always tired. I need work to keep me sane funnily enough.

The term after they're 3 you'll get some funded hours, which makes a huge difference!

In the meantime, is changing your hours possible?

I'm in a slightly different position as my eldest is at school now, but I've worked out we would be nearly £100 a month better off if I dropped from 35 to 33 hours a week - we'd save more on childcare than I'd lose on my salary. It works out if I lose 2 paid hours, I can drop 4 unpaid hours as well (lunch breaks) - it's 3 shorter days & the 2 "full" days have a 30 minute lunch instead of 60 minutes.

I'm not single so there is a 2nd income but it's not so much the costs as it is the physical and mental work. My other half doesnt really get involved looking after the house, he is out at sports all weekend and visits his daughter quite far away on a sunday so his involvement in anything is pretty slim. I cant change hours as I teach, I did a year on 4 days and was told its impossible to balance the budget hiring someone to cover my one day off. I make about 2400 a month, I rent my OH is self employed in schools so always at risk of being made redundant due to budget cuts. But even now writing all this I think why am I even contemplating this

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
