Does anyone work in HR or management? Just trying to clear something up...
I know if you work over 6 hours, you're entitled to a lunch break (my work don't pay for lunch breaks).
What if you work exactly 6 hours? Are you entitled to a lunch break then, or not?
I'm thinking about requesting a change to my working pattern when I go back, but it hinges on whether I'd get paid for 6hrs or 5.5hrs for working 8:30 to 2:30.
I work 6 hours Monday and Tuesday and I get 30 minutes paid breaks I split it into 2 x 15 mins. I work 11 hours on a Wednesday and get 1 hour unpaid lunch and 45 minute paid breaks which I split throughout the day whenever I feel like a break, Thursday I work 8 hours and get 30 minutes unpaid lunch and 30 mins paid break and Friday I do 9 hours and get 30 mins paid break and 1 hour unpaid lunch xxx
I work 4 hours on a friday and im entitled to a 15 minute break and 9 hours on a Sunday and get 1 and a half hours so I'd assume 6 hours you would get 15 minutes atleast. My breaks are not paid for x
It depends on where you live and the laws. I’m in Virginia and the labor law only requires an unpaid break for minors. If you work exactly 6 hours I would so no, if it says over 6 hours it has to be over 6 hours to get a break.
I'm in the UK.
Employment laws here require a minimum 20 minute break if you work over 6 hours, but I'm not clear on 6 hours itself.
@k1mt, if you work exactly 6 hours you don’t get a break. It has to be over 6 hours. So if you worked 6 hours and 30 mins you would get a break. Because you’re working over 6 hours.
Heard back from HR & they've confirmed I would get 6 hours pay for working 8:30-2:30.
Now to persuade hubby my plan might work!
