When was the last time you baked a cake for no reason at all? 🎂 Not very often, right!!?? I mean… who bakes a cake just for the heck of it?? (Raising my hand!!!!) I love baking with my kids because it’s a great time to talk and just be with them. I’ve always said that there’s 2 places where you can really talk to your kids openly - 1) the car 2) the kitchen. I don’t know what the special “power” is about the car and the kitchen, but it’s the perfect opportunity to open up with them. I’m not a big cook, but I’m a baker. I love, love, love to bake, it’s one thing my kids all know about me. I usually don’t bake cakes for without something to celebrate, but I did the other day and my Ben, Henry and Victoria helped me decorate! #sponsored It’s easy to tackle serious topics when you’re baking because it’s just an open space. There’s nothing intimidating about baking in the kitchen. I opened up the conversation about bullying and being kind online with 3 of my kids the other day because October is National Bullying Prevention Month and I think it’s so important that we all have these talks with our kids, even at the young age of 6. Technology is how they communicate with friends nowadays, so I really wanted to make sure they know the importance of always being kind online and not tolerating anyone getting bullied. I want them to know that they always have me to talk to and always have me to share things with. .

I’m someone who believes in being kind to everyone and I hope my children take a cue from my own book. Kindness is always in style and I feel that they learn from what they see and what they know. Bullying is such a big issue with kids in this day and age, especially on social media. I’m doing my part in telling my children to never let someone get bullied by encouraging them to be an upstander. I’m all for standing up and saying, “STOP” or finding someone to help alleviate the situation. I’m teaching my children to do the same. .
