It’s Fire Prevention Week (Oct 6th-12th) right now and it’s the ideal time to learn about fire safety and everyday protective measures that you and your family can take in case of a home fire. As a mom of 5 kids, my #1 priority in life is their safety. It’s all that matters to me. #FirePreventionWeek is an excellent opportunity to bring even more awareness to your family about fire safety. .
I’m happy to partner with @ULFSRI and their dedication to increase firefighter knowledge to everyone. They share that a major way we can protect the safety of our children is by having smoke alarms in our homes. It’s a simple, yet very effective safety precaution that can save your family’s life. Smoke alarms give you and your loved ones the earliest warning possible that there is a fire, so you can get out of your home quickly and safely. .
In our home we have 2 fire alarms upstairs, 2 fire alarms downstairs and 1 in our basement. But the most important thing when it comes to your fire alarms is making sure that they’re working. It’s vital to make sure you have working smoke alarms. You want to get yourself and your family into the habit of testing smoke alarms regularly. Set alarms on your phone once a month to check them. Write it in your work planner or agenda. Even mark it clearly on your family calendar. Just make sure you do it! .
40 years ago, we had 17 minutes to escape our homes in the event of a fire. Today, due to synthetic materials, furniture, more open layouts and lighter construction materials, we now have three minutes or less to escape our home. With only three minutes to escape, smoke alarms give you and your loved ones the earliest warning possible that there is a fire, so you can get out of your home quickly and safely. .
Take time this week to talk with your kids about fire safety. Always remember, if your alarm does go off, that means to get down, get out and stay out. And please make sure you have an escape plan in place and act on it when an alarm sounds. #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives #Sponsored
