Curious how other moms/parents feel about this??
So I babysit a 8yr old boy
He has a lot of online interaction from what I noticed
Today when he was leaving I noticed he was messaging back and fourth with what I’m assuming is another child
I asked him to give me his tablet and I scrolled through the messages nothing bad but still!!!
I asked him if his mom knew that he talks to people online he said yes I don’t know if he was lying to me
He said she didn’t mind 🤷🏻♀️
But I don’t know..... he has a tick tock account and I know she knows about that and is ok with it...
So my question is do I tell her heyyy do you know that your kid is talking to people online
Or mind my business??

Personally I think he is way too young to engage in these type of stuff
Yes def talk to his mom about it. He’s in your care at times and she should be aware of what’s going on and vis versa
I have an 8 year old son and there’s NO WAY I would allow him to be messaging people unless I was physically watching him do it and looking over his shoulder. I would rather him FaceTime with someone so I can hear what’s being said to make sure I know what’s going on. I let him watch videos and stuff, but I wouldn’t want him commenting on random stuff and talking to random people. I’d want to know if he was talking to people.. I just don’t know how you’d be able to bring it up to someone without it seeming judgmental.
I Yes exactly my boys go on YouTube but never interact with anyone online
Thankfully they never have asked to make any type of account
I just tell them I wasn’t on the internet till I was 19 and they drop it 👍🏻
But I’m trying to find the correct words to use...
If she does know I’m not sure how to back out of that conversation ☹️
Now that you mentioned video calls
Someone did video call him the other day and it seemed like he was trying to ignore it
But then he said it was his dad without confirming it
He tried to call right back but no one picked up
And I was thinking of it was your dad and you just called backed why didn’t he answer?
I didn’t ask him but now I’m questioning it
@justmeee, you could bring it up by saying something like “Hey so I’m not sure if you monitor screen time and want me to too but I did notice ____ spends a lot of time watching YT videos, messaging people and playing games.. should I just let him or ??” but I honestly would mind my own business because I’d like to think his mom goes through the tablet but I don’t know..

She might be completely clueless of what he does
I mean when u hand your kid a phone parents like to play stupid and. Look the other way there basically askin for it because kids don’t need phones imo my 14 yr old still don’t have one I’m sure she won’t give af most don’t smh 🤦🏽♀️
