So my son is showing interest in potty training. He knows what his potty is and where it’s at. If I ask him if he has to potty he says no. If he pees he takes off his diaper. If he wants a diaper change he goes to his diapers and points. If he has to poop he starts messing with his butt (but he starts messing with his butt way before he will actually go). Every time I ask him if he has to potty he says no. He will try to tell me he’s went peepee right after he went. If i put him on his potty to try to get him to go he just keeps getting up. He has went pee and poop in the potty. He just doesn’t like using his potty. I’ve tried to get him to go on a regular toilet and he is scared of it. It’s hard to be on top of it all the time with a newborn. But I check his pull up/diapers often and ask him about every 10-20 mins if he has to go. 😩

I waited until my newborn was about a month before really going hard with potty training. I didn’t give him the security of a diaper. He was pantless in the house for almost a month but on day 3 he really started to get it. I have an old towel under his little potty and kept it in the living room. We hung out in the living room all day. He’s not night trained yet so we still use a pull up or diaper for security but he mostly wakes up dry. I know it’s hard but the scariest part for us was realizing he wasn’t going to get it with a diaper on. Just be prepared to clean up a few messes

it sounds like he’s risking making a mess as it is. I’m telling you, the second I embraced the possible mess, it clicked. And I was VERY patient during an accident. If he was starting, we’d run him to the potty. If he just finished, still sat him on the potty. Gave high fives and told him I was proud of him every time he sat down. After he was done, whether he did anything or not, we gave hugs. I tried in the beginning to use rewards but it really didn’t work for him.

I am going through the struggle of potty training right now also. My son seems to know when he has to go but won't tell me. We fight in the morning to get him on the potty. He's went 2 or 3 times a day (sometimes) forcefully and I woulf give him a sticker and he enjoys it at the moment after that he doesn't care for the incentive anymore.
I don't know what to do to have him tell me when he has to go. I live in someone else's house and they have carpet so I can't let him just be free without a diaper.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
