Don't pay attention to what people are saying. Family court is very unpredictable and no two cases are the same. Unfortunately if he has a relationship established with your son you may need to be willing to share time. My ex husband has rotating holidays and half of the summer on paper. He has never actually used his visitation but if he wanted to I couldn't stop him...if he is this slow about paying you child support I wouldn't worry too much about him consistently requesting visits out of state.

Child support and custody are separate issues in most states. So paying child support doesn’t automatically award custody/visitation. That’s just like if he had a court order for custody and visitation and didn’t pay his child support, you would still have to follow the order. Child support is based on several factors.
