Anyone else have a toddler who just doesn’t listen? No matter what I do, my 2 year old doesn’t listen. When I say “no” he’ll look me dead in the eye and do it anyways. I never had this problem with my oldest. It’s like night and day. I’m at my wits end. I need help.

Mine is rather defiant some days. Other days he listens a little better but not always. Sometimes I count backwards from 5 and that gets his attention if hes not about to do something that he'll get hurt doing- if thats the case i redirect him as fast as possible

Counting down does nothing. I’ll say 1, he’ll say 2. Pretty much explains the type of toddler he is lol. What’s a quick thing you do to redirect him? I need to try that.

@a_lilly I will swoop him up and spin once or twice, telling him lets go do something (anything) else. or shake a toy or offer a bite of someting if I'm making food.
If i need him to back up from the tv i will physically scooch him back to where I would rather him sit. I have to stomp and holler (not scream but just be a little loud and very firm) "Hey! No sir! don't do that" if hes trying to play in the litter box though. He likes to try and put toys in there 😂 so we promptly wash his hands at that point

@a_lilly, just like whatever is around or literally distract her with what I’m doing. Like if I’m in the kitchen I’ll say wanna help me get this out of the fridge. Or if we’re in the living room wow! Have you seen what this toy can do? It kinda just resets them since they get distracted
