Wha I tend to do with McKenzie is if I've told him and he's still creating I either try and get him to think about something else by distracting him or just ignore him all together he'll eventually give in and tire himself out xx

Distraction used to work now he’s getting so worked up he listens to nothing. I just had to carry him out the shop baby in one arm him in the other and force him into his car seat to bring him home because lift in shop was broken and we had to go upstairs. So I said stop now and we can go to the cafe for lunch or we go home. He didn’t stop so we came home. He said sorry gave me a hug when we got home but was a 20 minute drive and I was so exhausted after I just gave him cereal for lunch which isn’t all that great

It depends on the circumstances for me weather he’s over tired and getting upset with himself or just wanting his own way.

If it’s because he’s tired I put him in his room 9/10 he will pull the canvas off the wall and turn the kids table and chairs over then will literally scream until I go back in and then I cuddle him and lay with him on his bed.

If it’s because he’s being a brat then I ignore it completely until he gets distracted and plays with something else etc xx

That’s what I tried to do it’s so stressful when in a shop or something like that. That’s why I stuck to we go home then. I try as much positive praise as possible.

He has also been so particular about what he wears so I stuck to it again to say no you don’t get the wet clothes you get this outfit or this one two hours to get clothes on today as I refuse to give into him

does he walk around shops or is in the buggy ? I have both mine in a double buggy and they don’t make a noise but I think it’s because we hardly go out 👎🏼

That sounds difficult I’m sure he’s testing the boundaries and like any kid wants his own way.

Stick with what you’re doing it’s tough but will come to an end.

I get out all my kids clothes and that’s what they wear. My toddler hasn’t got to the point of choosing or getting himself dressed yet so I suppose I have that hurdle to come next!

Two hours is a nightmare do you get him dressed or does he do it himself? Xx

Was he due a nap at the time ? Because I find tiredness has a big impact on behaviour xx

he normally has buggy on offer but the shop was next to the car and we were going to the cafe so I didn’t make it a double. He’s quite happy to walk in a shop now though.

I get his clothes out too but he kept saying no and throwing them or putting them in the bin, which is why it took two hours as I refused to budge he has to know he can’t choose these things. He would wear shorts daily if he could but it was cold today. I dress him but he can take clothes off.

He doesn’t have naps anymore he cut that out himself a while ago. Will sleep in car if longer distance.

I have tried to tell in laws do not buy him toys every time he’s at a shop as that doesn’t help but they always do!

If you see a tantrum coming or know what sets him off I find a distraction can often snap them out of it. If their already in mid meltdown I usually ignore it (obv keeping an unknowing eye on them lol). Or again try redirecting them to something else.
