It is so sad not being able to have a normal, healthy relationship with my mother. When I found out I was pregnant with my first, she was the first person I called. She was so disappointed in me even though I was 21 and engaged. It broke my heart so I swore I wouldn’t tell her the next time around. There are many, many other reasons we do not talk now but my heart is heavy tonight because I just want a mother to share these experiences with. Thankfully, I have a wonderful mother-in-law but it’s not really the same as my own mother.

@mommaofjais I def understand 💯 percent my mother has never been motherly or grandmotherly I had my 1st son at age 16, 2nd son at age 24 with a better man and my 3rd son I planned at age 37 I waited I got same reaction each time so yeah i choose to be a better mother ,nurturing ,motherly,play with my kids hands on ! I was blessed with an amazing father who was like our mother and father , and I’m happy for you congrats on a new baby how exciting

Same. My son has no idea who my mom even is. She has seen him twice in his two years of life. Has never wished him happy birthday, sent him cards, presents or even a text asking how he is doing. Breaks my heart.

But agreed, I’m choosing to be better as well!

@mommaofjais, look at this way it’s her loss not to know your amazing little boy ,funny story when my middle son was 4 my mom asked him what’s your moms mommy name and he said she’s dead hahha he said it so serious too

You’re right! It’s funny bc she will tell her side of the family that I am keeping her from her grandson 🙄 she likes to pretend she’s mother/grandmother of the year.

So over this feeling! Ever since I've had ds, OH and I have fought my mother on not wanting to give ds a dummy just…

So over this feeling! Ever since I've had ds, OH and I have fought my mother on not wanting to give ds a dummy just cause we don't like them and find he self soothes. For the past three times my mother has had him, she has gone against our rule and given him a dummy and of course I spoke to her about it (that's all my knowledge on how many times she's done it). On Sunday we celebrated my stepfathers birthday and due to OH working I had to do it alone which isn't the thing that bothered me. The thing that bothered me was no matter what I said regarding ds I wasn't listened to. I told my mother to sit behind ds if she was going to sit him up on the floor as he hasn't got the whole balance thing down pact but she didn't and then ds falls and starts crying cause he hurt himself, I picked him up and my mother just came and took him off me! I told her he can't forward face yet as he is below the shoulder line in order to forward face but they did anyway. I get it's her first grandchild and she's excited but I never got to share the news about ds's first tooth or his first attempt at crawling to the family because she already done it. Yes I know, I probably sound petty asf! I had to repeatedly ask my mother to take me and ds home as he was tired and close to the over tired stage. On the way home ds fell asleep, luckily I was sitting beside him and looked at him cause he had fallen asleep and had his head facing down so I quickly grabbed his head and held it up till we got home.
