Has anyone been at risk of having your baby early and received steroid injections but went on to have a full term pregnancy?
I feel like my baby is bigger now with the injections. He was already measuring ahead but idky I feel like he's even bigger... My doct refuses to measure him until 39 weeks now. 😩 He was 6 lbs at 35 weeks.
I’ve received 2 sets of them one set at 23 weeks and the other at 34 weeks.. both times I was in preterm labor
@rese, no but I’m going in tomorrow to my ob because she’s wanting to induce me early due to serious complications. So their making up a date tomorrow
Me! At about 36 weeks they thought they might have to induce me because of slightly elevated blood pressure and GD. Went on to carry until a little over 39 weeks before having a scheduled c-section. He came out, according to the doctor, “the most perfect sized baby.”
Is there a reason you had a c-section vs vaginal delivery? (If you don't mind me asking)
My fear is because my daughter was born 4lbs 9oz, my doctor says "he wants me to have a big baby" but he just became my doctor this pregnancy months in. He doesn't know my body frame. So he doesn't know what is "normal" for me or what my frame can handle lol
My best friend had an 8+ pound baby and tore soooooo bad smh her doctor later said she probably shouldn't have vaginally delivered a huge baby. Smh
@rese, I had a c section because I had one with my first. I could have gone vaginally but I was in a different state with no one reliable to help with my oldest when I went into labor. So we weighed the pros and cons and decided a scheduled c-section was the best route for me.
My oldest was a 8lb, 7oz baby and my youngest was 7lb, 7oz
The steroid shot is just to help mature his lungs incase he comes early.
Yeah but there has been studies about it causing low birth weight and mental health issues, etc. It's a steroid. It can't just target one thing and not have any other effects.
I did. They almost couldn’t stop my labor so they went on to being in NICU doctors to explain how things would go had she came at 30 weeks like she tried. However, they said it was only to open her lungs and speed that process up. She came out my smallest baby so I’m not sure if the steroid shot has much to do with making the baby bigger. I could definitely be wrong though because for all I know maybe she would have been smaller had I not had that shot. She was only 5lbs 4oz at birth and by the time we left she was all the way down to 4lbs 13oz.
@coffeebean, yeah. I mean it could be something as simple as because we have a steroid in our system, our appetite increases and we eat more, then gain weight lol doesn't have to be a direct, known side effect that they would claim. Haha
But thanks! 💕🙌🏽. I think he will for another week or two. But after that, I'm unsure based on how he's cramped now.
@rese, best of luck!! At least you know if you make it that long he’s fullterm and healthy❤️🥰
@rese, I had her at 38 weeks. She was 6 pounds 13 ounces. I did have her vaginally.
@missheatherbaby, okay so she was smaller. Hmm... Thanks. I'm just thinking out loud lol he could just be a big baby just because he's a big baby 😂🤷🏽♀️. He was already measuring bigger anyways.
I know that everyone is different and all situations have different contributing factors and outcomes.

Yes I got 2 of them at 32 weeks ro stop my contractions and had her at 36.
