I’m breastfeeding this baby, for as long as I damn well please too unless she doesn’t gain weight, I got to breastfeed my son for 2 weeks. He was on a bottle until just 3 months ago maybe? I’m wondering if any of your kids, my son is 3 in December, tried to regress? I guess, I’m worried my son will want a bottle again and not accept his sippy cup anymore and be upset all the time because we don’t have bottles for him. We have a pack of 3 bottles just Incase for the new baby and so far I’ve had them hidden because I’ve been worried my son will see them and want them and have a meltdown over it. I don’t even want him to get curious about me breastfeeding just because the baby is.

Well firstly, if you want to be successful at breastfeeding don’t use bottles at all for at least the first month. Secondly, yes regression is normal and expected. My daughter was 3.5 when her brother was born and she wanted to nurse. The whole time I was pregnant she kept saying “one side for me and one side for baby.” She stopped nursing at 2.5 but she still remembered it so when he was born she asked if she could have some. I actually let her latch but she didn’t know how to suck anymore so nothing came out and then after that I told her sorry milk is only for babies. I’m still breastfeeding my son and she still asks from time to time. Sometimes I’ll give her my pumped milk in a sippy cup and she pretends to be a baby. It’s temporary and she wants attention so I just go along with it.

I had no choice but to give my son a bottle at 2 weeks old because I had to start giving him formula. Nothing was wrong with us breastfeeding but an er dr told me to stop because my son was so jaundice. But after research I refuse to listen to anything like that this time. But my son has seen his sisters emergency bottles once already and he was practically begging me for one(I didn’t give it to him).
