On formula #4 with my little one. How can you tell if the formula really works for your baby if they have bad acid reflux? He just started Zantac Saturday but he's done the exact same with all the formulas except the formula he's on now, he's not extremely gassy and it seems to digest better.
Nope. Would I have his pediatrician test for it or would I need to go to another Dr? I have no idea what's going on and it's so hard to tell when they're babies. We just guess and assume.
@alle2011 so my pediatrician gave me a sample of the soy formula over the weekend and I saw almost immediate relief for her. When I told the doctor that he gave me a referral to an allergist. She did the prick test to confirm.
My daughter had it and I used Enfamil AR it's like a pink orange color and it worked wonders... I didn't have to give her medicine
I've heard about that formula! I just hate this constant formula change😐
The zantac never really seemed to help my daughter but finding the right formula did. She ended up having to use Gerber Soothe, she didn’t completely outgrow the reflux until she was seven months old, but using the soothe really cut out the extremely frequent reflux episodes.
I hope it works for my little one! We've tried a few formulas but I know for a fact it's not formula causing it because he's the exact same with every formula. Nothing changes whatsoever and i hate that change doesn't help. But we go back Tuesday for his 2 month appointment so we'll see what happens. We may end up changing again!
@alle2011, I understand your frustration, my daughters got so bad that at two months old she stopped breathing in my arms, they diagnosed her with “ periodic breathing” , they said the reflux was burning her throat so severely that she would gasp and just hold her breath out of fear and then eventually would release and then struggle to catch up with lost breaths not understanding what her body was doing. It was long journey but it does get better!❤️
@thawkins omg girl that's so scary and terrible!! My son does something similar but doesn't stop breathing. He just freaks out and kinda gasps for air when the spit up comes up and a lot of the time it comes out of his nose and he really doesn't like that. It is frustrating for sure having your baby go through that because it's a constant struggle trying to help soothe them and try and find things to help manage it.
Thanks girl!😊
Have you had him tested for a diary allergy. Only ask because my daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux and given zantac but she had gas and was spitting up. Once we switched to a soy formula she was better turns out she had a dairy allergy.
