38 weeks today. Pretty sure I lost my mucus plug. Would love to show for opinions but it's pretty gross and brown and "mucusy" bc I had my cervix checked yesterday. Didn't spot at all. And then this morning I felt something something coming out of me and started cramping. Thoughts?
Getting checked can irritate the cervix and loosen the mucus plug enough that some of it will come out. The brown is probably old blood from yesterday after getting checked. You can lose your mucus plug more than once since it regenerates. But I'd keep an eye on the cramping.
@sucy when I called the day before about the contractions I was having they straight up told me not to come in unless I was pretty much screaming in pain or my water broke. I didn't have actual painful contractions until they broke my water at 8cm. It was like that with my son too, I don't have really painful contractions until my water breaks. But they didn't believe me. They had to keep me at 6cm though so.
@insecureemu, for some reason, I feel like this is going to happen to me.
@sucy I think most Labor and Delivery nurses wi tell you to wait until you're almost passing out from pain before they want you to come in. I had an NST which monitors baby's heart rate and contractions that morning. So they KNEW I was having consistent contractions every 4 minutes that hurt, and that I'd had bloody show and a high heart rate. It was 146bpm when they took me off the machine and they still wouldn't admit me until I came back for bleeding. The contractions got worse on the way home and we turned around and I went to the bathroom at the hospital and the blood turned the water red. That's the only reason they took me at 4cm. And even then they were sure they'd be sending me home after a few hours of monitoring. It may have just been my hospital that was like this, but they were so sure I wasn't in labor and didn't know what I was talking about despite already having had one kid. The nurse who was with me when I came in came back the next day and was shocked I actually had my daughter.
I lost my mucus plug over the course of 48 hours, (there’s a ton...a lot more than you’d expect) when the last of it came out, my water immediately broke. I was 38 weeks! Good luck!
