My MIL was similar. Put your foot down early. What worked 30 years ago when she had a baby is NOT necessarily best practice these days. So much has changed.

If you're ever confused, talk to your OB or pediatrician (assuming you have a trustworthy one) and defer to their expertise. It makes it easier to say no to MIL when you say "I asked his dr about that and she said...". So hopefully she won't take it personally when you don't follow her advice.

You don’t. It’s not nutritional value and its a choking hazard unless advised by your dr for acid reflux. your child is way too young for solids. 6 months and all signs of readiness is when you introduce solids.

It's a choking hazard and can cause stomach problems later on. Look up open gut.
