So lately I've been hearing a lot of negative opinions on marriage. Some people say that it's a sham and it is unnatural. They also say that it's something people do because society puts so much emphasis on it. I'll admit, before I met my husband, I really didn't know much about marriage and wanted to do it because it would make people around me proud. But now that I'm actually married, I have learned so much about myself and feel like there is no other place I would want to be. Ladies, if you're married, what does marriage mean for you? Do you see yourself spending the rest of your life with the same person?

Im not married but I pretty much consider us to be. It's been 12 yrs in September we have been together. We have been through hard times and great times together. We fight we love and I don't see myself with no one else. We have our own house, drive new car and we started off living with my grandmother. He's my bestfriend and marriage just brings the bond closer.

this is important! Most people think that when you're with someone forever, the sex gets boring. Buuut it actually gets better! You learn each other's bodies so well and you get to try new things with this one person that you might feel too vulnerable to try with a stranger

So, you're saying the "married" part isn't really needed? I've been hearing that a lot too. I know a lot of people who have been together 25 years + and are very happy

yeah I feel like it’s unnecessary. Being married doesn’t really define anything to be honest. It also doesn’t mean people are going to be faithful. It’s really just a label.

I'll be married for 4 years on the 7th of this month, marriage to me means that you don't have to go through life alone, the different seasons of life you won't ever have to face them alone because you have that one person you'll spend the rest of your life with by your side facing them with you. Even if you're marriage is in muddy waters you won't have to fight for your marriage alone because you'll have that one person beside you fighting too. Marriage is a wonderful thing because it's not good for anyone to go through life alone.

Coming from an islamic faith marriage is a huge part of our lifes. Without it I wouldn't be able to live with my spouse or be intimate or have kids with him.

I don’t regret getting married at all. I honestly couldn’t see myself with anyone other than my husband. Yeah, we bicker about dumb shit & we have our arguments & disagreements but at the end of the day we’re 100% there for each other through everything and it’s so nice to have that person in your life. I don’t agree when people say the sex gets boring, I mean maybe in some cases but that’s definitely not the case for everyone. The key is being able to communicate your wants & needs and feeling comfortable enough with your partner to do so. Also, I didn’t have a “big wedding” we had both our parents & we got married at the magistrates office. I’ve never once regretted it. I think too many people make marriage about the wedding itself & outdoing others, going crazy & spending a lot- it’s nice but definitely not necessary to have a happy healthy marriage :)
