They pay for part of your rent. The amount they pay depends on what bracket you fall in within their guidelines. Theres a long ass wait list though first

It sucks being on section 8 or any subsidized housing for that matter. Strict rules. Yearly inspection. You pay for practically anything that needs a repair or replaced.
I was in section 8 and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Yes they do pay a lot of your rent and you only pay a portion of it. They are extremely strict on their rules. While I was on it I was told that I was the only one ever to be allowed to be in my apartment. Maintenance doesn’t want to do anything for you if you are on section 8. I had multiple problems with my apartment and had to fix everything on my own. When you are on section 8 to they just assume that you can’t do anything on your own which they told me multiple times. If you can I would recommend trying to file for subsidized housing or trying to live with family before you think about section 8 @amomofmonsters,
