Maybe it’s my anxiety, but I think moms who take their newborn out to multiple outings and on family vacations a week after they’re born are wild.
Like aren’t you afraid your newborn is gonna spontaneously combust? Or is that just me and my anxiety? Idk..

My first I was young and didn’t know better. My second I kept home more. My 3rd and 4th I had to get out and go to the store just days after them being born. And the older kids had school things that I still had to attend. Life doesn’t stop because you have a baby. Just need to learn safe ways to take them out.

@sarasmilesatyou, I understand that too. I have such big gaps between my boys and my girls though I had to get out. I just kept baby covered and didn’t let anyone touch baby. I know some who were so scared to take their baby out of the house until they were like 6 months old or something but when you think about even taking the baby to the dr office for checkups that’s the most germ ridden place you can be. Everyone goes to the dr when they are sick.

that’s true I didn’t think about that. There was just so much anxiety I had and then I kept finding and hearing horror stories about unlucky newborns who didn’t get to live a long life. I didn’t even let my own parents kiss my son until he was vaccinated.

yeah my parents and in laws had such a hard time with not kissing the babies. But we made it through. And my kids can’t be vaccinated because of severe allergic reactions. So that wasn’t something I could fall back on and count on. I just have to live life and do the best I can.

Yeah, I didn't take my baby out in public except for doctor appointments until she was 3 months old

I was actually told my my Dr. that it’s good to get out. That staying inside for too long contributes to postpartum depression. I believe everything within reason. When my son was a little over a week I took him to a restaurant and he slept the whole time while my husband and I shared a meal and was covered in his seat. No harm done. To each there own. I’m currently due with number 2 in less than 9 days and I have a three year old that will be home with me. It will be nearly impossible to stay inside until my baby gets shots with a three year old that very much needs to get out the house. Like someone else said your life doesn’t just stop once a baby is born.
