Okay, so I had my annual Pap smear done on July 11th last month, at my health department I been going to since my daughter was born. (also to get my depo shot) I went in got it over with, and as always before I left my nurse says now remember “no news is good news” I’m like okay yeah, all my paps I’ve done have been good/normal. So I forgot about it.. Well I get a call last Wednesday the 31st, and when I answered I knew who exactly it was so I was like omg. And my nurse told me now Brittany don’t be freaked out but your Pap smear came back abnormal, she called it Ascus. And she explained it to me more and pretty much they found abnormal cells in my cervix. She also said I’m HPV negative, so there’s no way it could be cancerous. She said my next pap isn’t for another 3 years. But still I freaked out bc what if they read it wrong or something. (I worry about everything) lol so yesterday I had my records faxed to my local hospital, I just wanna ease my mind and make sure there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. So I should be hearing from the hospital Monday and I’ll have a appointment by the end of next week. I forgot to mention up top, but I had a great Aunt that died of cervical cancer (on my moms side) but has this happened to anyone else?! And everything turned out okay?! ❤️

My understanding is they’ve backed way off of jumping straight into colposcopies and leeps etc because so many were being unnecessarily performed. Things can go back to normal on their own and even if not, changes usually happen very slowly. I wouldn’t worry too much but it never hurts to learn more about what is happening when it comes to your body.

I’ve been dealing with this for over a year now. I have to go back every 6 months for checks and I’ve had the colposcopy done twice now. The test is always fine but my Pap smears are still abnormal. I go back this month to be checked again.

Mine was abnormal for years. Even sense my first one. Just abnormal cells. I remember they told me not to worry but I had to go back less the 3 years because of it. When I was pregnant with my son they wanted to remove the abnormal cells after his birth. Oddly after he was born it went back to normal. Been normal ever sense.
