Is anybody studying full-time with a baby? I've applied to start a uni course in September. Will I get enough support financially to study, keep up with my bills and send Madison to a nursery during Uni hours? Is the financial help comfortable? Or the bare minimal?

You can apply for a student childcare grant

Another thing I've just remembered is that my friend started uni last September when her little had just turned 1. She gets her nursery fees paid for two out of three terms a year x

I'm in Wales so it's probably slightly different, but here you get so much support if you're Welsh (or have lived in Wales for 5 years prior to your course start date) and going to University then you get a lot of help (depending on your household income). I went through uni full time, with Przemek working full time and no benefits. We got by very comfortably, granted we didn't have a baby but you get extra support here if you have a baby!

@clarelushx have you tired ringing student finance? They would be able to give you so much more information. They will also send you an application form to fill out, you could be entitled to more support than you're aware of. You can look them up online.

I bet! I loved uni. I was meant to go back to do my masters four days before Theos due date. Never did though, not sure my brain could keep up now 😂

@jamie123 I haven't got in touch with them because the enrollment doesn't start till next month. I am really eager to understand it and work everything out but I've been waiting till the balls rolling; for the university to help guide me through it. Suppose asking on here was just to gain a general idea.

Think nows the time. Whilst my daughter is young. So by the time she's a teenager I've got something to give.

@clarelushx my sister is die to start in September (she's recently received confirmation of her place) she did her student finance about a month ago now. It takes them ages to process it see, if you don't get your place then they will be informed by the uni and you won't received the money. I'm pretty sure they can only backdate payments 6 weeks (this is what I remember from when I applied like 5 years ago). So it may be best to start looking into all that now xx

I don’t know about the uni/college side of things but I know that any kind of financial support is never going to be comfortable. You’re always going to be given the bare minimum and have to be careful with money x

I don't know. I've been working part-time with help from UC and I've been fairly comfortable. Kind of hoping it stays somewhat similar but I dunno how it works out x
