Has anyone in here ever dealt with a love one who has a mental illness? And suffers from depression and bipolar??

@autumnrenea1990, my entire family moved to Florida a few years ago. I live in Michigan. My brother doesn’t have insurance and no job. He also refuses to be on his meds and the only way my parents will help with anything is if he goes back to inpatient facilities. Right now he’s saying that he’s moving somewhere very far away but he doesn’t know where. He’s on community service and banned from a store because he stole stuff from them. There isn’t much that I can do though because I am 1200 miles away from them. He gets upset over stuff that wouldn’t be hard for a lot of other people so I have to explain and help him understand the part that he doesn’t. It’s hard and frustrating sometimes but I’m his sister and he’s part of my family and I’m always going to do whatever I can for him. Last year I moved him to Michigan and took him in for 4 months because our parents left him homeless down in Florida.

@autumnrenea1990, I also suggest you look into support groups for yourself. It’s a hard journey dealing with someone with bipolar. You need support too.

Yes, my father was bipolar and had depression. My 6 yr old son is bipolar and has ADHD. Did you have any questions or was there something you wanted to talk about?
