My Dr just ordered a blood test my first appointment he always has I didn't really have any symptoms they check everything

Just curiosity because, I think I might have a thyroid issue. How’d you go about asking your Dr. to check it out ? What symptoms do you or did you have ? What tests have they done ? Is it just a blood test? I’m sorry if I am asking a lot. 😅
