Its good to share but its also good for kids to know they dont have to share if they dont want to.

It's a bike that he will outgrow. Does your son have an issue sharing the bike? Even tho it's ”unique”... it's just a bike. Idk maybe I don't get it..... My kids has bikes and the older kids bikes are custom, I never thought to withstand sharing 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t understand why people feel others are obligated to share their personal items that’s irritating! Everything is not meant to be shared. & if you or your son don’t want to share you don’t have to. Yes it’s important to teach kids about sharing but it’s just as important to teach them everything isn’t meant to be shared somethings are just for you and it’s nothing wrong with that.

The only time I’m not okay with my girls sharing is when the child coming is destructive and disrespectful towards things, we have a few I know who are like this. But I don’t let the stuff sit out where it can be seen. Me and the girls will move and put away the things we’re worried about breaking or being destroyed so any toys left aren’t an issue. I still don’t want kids destroying their stuff but at least if it had to happen it’s nothing they’re gonna be THAT upset over. If you don’t want her riding it then I’d keep it away when she’s there because if it’s all out in her face and he’s riding on it, naturally she’s going to want to and she’s too young to understand your reason as to why she can’t so she’s just gonna be upset.

I get what you’re saying. There are a few toys of my kids I don’t let others play with only because I don’t want them breaking them. But I just put those away when other peoples kids are around just to avoid an issue!

Certain things I don't think kids should be told they HAVE to share. It's not something that sets them up for adult life. As an adult if someone told me I had to share my, special personal belongings, I'd literally tell them to fuck off. But when it comes to being petty over little toys, like the " I only want to play with that now that you are" scenario, then yes, I encourage sharing. It's not something that really applies in adulthood, but it does teach them kindness and patience. With the bike though, no I don't think he should have to share. I bought my son a mini 4 wheeler and I don't let other kids on it because if they wreck it, I'll be pissed.

In my opinion you should always encourage sharing whenever the opportunity presents itself, but honestly my daughter has certain things that I do not expect her to share. She has a stuffed catboy toy that pretty much goes everywhere with her, I don’t expect her to share it. If we’re going someplace that other children will be I always have a little chat with her about how there will be other kids there that may be interested in her toy so if she doesn’t want to share him it might be a good idea to leave him behind. Sometimes she chooses to bring it and we make it known that he’s very special and we don’t want anyone else to play with him and sometimes she’s totally cool with sharing. If that bike is that thing for you, maybe just leaving it behind when you know you’ll be around other kids interested in riding it. If that’s not an option, just tell them you’re not comfortable with them riding it, even if the children don’t understand, the parents should and they should be able to relay that message to their children in a way that makes sense to them.
