She’s such a pretty baby. I never updated anyone on her birth or anything, so here goes nothing...

I started having contractions in April, strong enough that I had to breathe through them. They lasted for NINE WHOLE DAYS and I had only progressed to 3cm and 75% effaced when they finally put me out of my misery and started a Pitocin drip. The contractions then became super easy and short; I was laughing and having a grand old time. This was the early morning of May 5th.

They kept upping the Pitocin and the contractions started to double up, showing them what they had thought was happening. Baby’s head was off-kilter, making things difficult to progress. After 6 hours, I had only made it to 3.5cm, and they wanted to break my water. Last time I gave birth and they broke my water, everything started going wrong and I went from 7 to 6, with a stall. So I told my doctor no and continued labouring.

My husband was getting antsy and felt like nothing was happening after several more hours, so they came in and checked again to see that I’d made it to 4, and they broke my water. Several hours later, I was only at 4.5! Her head was still off-centered and I was getting pukey. The back labour was killing me, the lack of food was killing me, and my hips felt like they were being ripped apart from behind. I asked for them to try an epidural, even with the scoliosis. Last time it had made everything worse and I almost had a c-section because it doubled the pain and I was passing out.

This time, the anesthesiologist was extremely careful, and although it took a couple tries, it finally kicked in and within ten minutes of it working I relaxed enough to progress from 4.5 to 9.5. Another ten minutes and I was pushing. Thirty minutes before, my husband had told my mom and grandma that they could go get food since it looked like it was going to take a long time. Thankfully, they’re experienced and knew that birth can be unpredictable.

Ten minutes of pushing and she was out! I didn’t tear, she was very healthy, and there were four generations of women in the room. Such an amazing moment.

Lydia Alexandra, born 5:45pm on 5/5/19, weighed a perfect 7lbs and was 18.75 inches.

My baby was well known in the Labor and delivery section for 3 days! Because I made no progress dialating. They used cervidil that softens your cervix for 12 hours (no progress) They gave me a oral pill to help start contractions and dialate ( no progress), they inserted a balloon into my cervix to open it up and even gave me a dose of pitocin (this immediately, had me contracting loke crazy! (I ended up being 4cm dialated. After taking the balloon out they just used pitocin at the highest level....(i stayed at 4cm dialated). Next step since I made no progress was to restart pitocin again (still no progress) I then ended up having to go against my birth plan and have them break my water, as soon as they broke my water, I requested my epidural before pain got to unbearable. Soon they checked me and told me I was fully dialed but wasnt all the way effaced, and baby wasnt facing the right direction. AFTER 32 hours of labor, 2 hours of pushing, I'm not the one to give up but I know when to back down, when I've lost a battle. i had ended up getting a fever of 102 that they had to treat me for while pushing . I seen I had made no progress of pushing.....my baby was only 4 pounds and I still couldn't push him out. Doctors and nurses gave me 2 options.....c section or restart your pitocin to see if contractions will push him down more. It took me 2 seconds to answer, and I went against my birth plan a 2nd time..... C-section! They began to get me ready. And added more meds to numb me. I felt the tugging and pulling (normal). They finally got this little tiny baby out, even though they even had a hard time. Then I felt PAIN! I began to cry in agony. As they rushed to give me meds to put me to sleep. End result, due to breaking my water and waiting around i ended up having a infection, baby had a scrape on head from hitting my pelvis bone.... not only that, but caring a 4lbs baby was all my body could make....my pelvis was way too small for me to even push my 4lbs little boy out. But guess what hes 4 pounds, Full Term and healthy. !

I'm convinced I'm going to go into labour at any minute.....I'm having contraction but they're stopping and starting. Yesterday i was having contractions all morning then by the time I got to triage to be monitored they stopped. Now this morning I was sat having breakfast with my son and they started again. But more intense and longer lasting this time. My question is do I phone triage now or do I just wait to see what happens. I feel like I'm wasting their time always ringing etc
