Ours doesn't sleep with a pillow at all yet. Probably won't until he gets a toddler bed.
We introduced small stuffed animals first. We introduced blankets outside of the crib first - during play in the living room under supervision. That way we could teach him how to use it, practice getting untangled from it, etc. When we felt confident in his play with blankets, I added one to his crib.
We drape the blanket over the edge of his crib so he can pull it in if he wants, but it's out of the way of he doesn't.
I always thought at 2 you could put a pillow and blanket in a crib. But it could be younger. My mom sneaks into my 2 year olds room and still takes the pillow out 😒😒 she thinks it’s not safe still.
I was wondering this myself. Still haven't put a blanket or pillow in the crib. Not that he has a problem sleeping without them but I'm just overly nervous still🤦♀️
Just put a pillow in the crib and they'll lay on it. Same with a blanket. One for now I'd say. My 1 year old loves blankets and pillows. She has a regular pillow she lays on to sleep and then a small star pillow she likes to hug when shes trying to fal asleep
