It’s official. I’ve got myself a high schooler. 8th grade graduation was the other night and I was (quite literally) mush. Maybe it’s because William’s my first. Maybe it’s because I’m realizing that in 4 years he’ll be going off on his own. Maybe it’s because I’m just wish that time really did stand still, even though I know it can’t.

All I know today is that I’m proud of this kid. I’m proud of the young man he has become. I’m proud of how hard he works in school and in sports. I’m proud of his kind heart. I’m proud of his drive and determination. I’m proud of his loyalty to his friends. I’m proud of his patience. I’m proud of his curiosity. I’m just proud of him. .

He may not be the little boy that wouldn’t leave my side when kindergarten started. And I may not be the same way I was back then, too (I sat in the parking lot of his elementary school on his very 1st day of kindergarten for 3 hours. Yes, I did.). We’ve done this parent and kid thing together throughout the years, him being my first. .
