Haven’t been on here in FOREVER! But what age did you start feeding your little one rice cereal? He’s 3 months and my stepmom keeps nagging me on feeding it to him.
My stepmom was bragging how she was feeding it to her babies since they were 1 month bc it helps them sleep through the night but my LO sleeps just fine without it.
Recommended six months to start rice cereal. Not even all doctors are up to date with this , a lot will say four, like mine did . But then I was seeing a nutritionist and she told me absolutely noooo. And cereal is unnecessary to the fullest . It has no nutritional value unless your child has an iron deficiency and needs it to help, but even then there’s other ways . Just constipates them lol.
No sooner than 6m. We do oatmeal cereal with puréed fruit for breakfast. (After nursing) Never rice. I think that’s an outdated thing. Older women in my family all ask about it too.
We also never used rice cereal. There's no nutritional value in it. At 6m we started on solids (stage 1 baby foods).
My MIL tried to push/insist on rice cereal as well - must be an outdated expectation from the generations before us. When I asked my pediatrician about it, he confirmed that it's unnecessary and pretty much useless.
It's recommended to wait til 6mths to introduce solids but mine wasn't interested in a bottle at 4mths so I tried baby oatmeal and then tried making baby food at 6mths
@lil.momma, correct. Anything other than breast milk or formula is considered a “solid.” Plus, baby should show all signs of readiness. Sitting unsupported, pincer grasp, no tongue thrust reflex
@flamingomom, This. ☝🏼Has your pediatrician discussed any of this with you? It’s a medical recommendation to wait until at least the 6m mark, but ideally until baby is showing all signs of readiness.
