Who can give me legal advice for child support case that I need canceled and instead have him sign over his rights as a father. My daughter doesn’t know him at all. She was raised by me and my husband since she was a baby. I have court this Thursday.

@yurica, it definitely wouldn’t hurt to have him there and let them know he’s taken on that role! Any texts or emails or show your blocked or any attempt you had in past of communication with biological dad may help. Where I’m from you can file abandonment at 4 months. I’d try to just gather up anything have! It may push it along faster if possible. Some judges are hesitant so that could seal the deal for you.
A lawyer is your best bet.

@yurica I believe you have to start by petitioning to have his rights removed and then it goes from there. But seeing as he has done everything to ignore you and your daughter, it should be a simple and fast case
@mychemicalshaymance, since the state open the case I couldn’t removed it. I applied 2-3 years ago for child support to make him be responsible of her too but just now the im hearing something from the state. My daughter is 5 years old. I don’t want to put her in a scary situation
You will need to show proof of abandonment. Is he able to contact you if he wanted to? If your husband plans to adopt that usually helps. They may want to serve him a notice before termination of rights.
