Anyone bought a house thats needed completely gutting and starting all over again?! 🤦🏼♀️🙏
If it helps with the bathroom, we brought a new suite ourselves (bath and shower screen £250, toilet and sink £120, tiles were budget at £200, electric shower £100). We then paid a fitter £1800 who fitted it all as well as removed the old stuff. xx
Thanks. Ive seen my own that id like to buy but its just the fitting, 1800 is alot?! Or is it? I dont know 😂😂 where are u based in uk xx
@terrig, I’m based in Tamworth which is midlands. We had a few quotes and he wasn’t quite the cheapest but he could get it done when we wanted.
It wont let me upload the full pic. The baths smashed in middle on floor and the sinks green , bottle green! Then the toilet cream. Nothing matches and all really old and knackered. Ive seen a suite i was that 600 quid. I just dont know how much to expect to have it fitted? X
Our bathroom was all mould I cleaned it and painted the roof anti mould. At the time I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with any of the spaces, now I have lived with it a couple of months I know exactly what I want. There is a programme called bang on budget it’s good for ideas xx
@terrig, we chose not to do ours on a budget this time because we want to be here forever and like I say I have went for higher end finishes than are needed. We had a lot from selling our old house. I did just make a rug from excess carpet, local shop binded the edges and it looks a lot more expensive than it was. Have a look on local selling sites. Concentrate on the rooms that need to be done, I personally think living room and bedrooms are the most important as it’s where you relax. That’s why we haven’t done bathroom and kitchen yet. Have you thought about sprucing it up over fully changing? Xx
@casey19 theres no kitchen actually in it, just the smashed up remains where someones started taking it out. And the bathroom theres no salvaging it. Zero. Ill upload pic of bathroom in a min but the bedrooms and living room once platered are sanded and reglossed ect will be ok. No work to be done in them its just the kitchen and bathroom and boiler xx
@terrig, have you looked at IKEA kitchens? Some are lovely and they are really budget friendly, same with bathroom units. Can get a bathroom suite for 600-800 I think then budget tiles? Xx
Nope, but after watching so many tv shows on HGTV, I’ve always wanted to 😬 not sure I have the patience though.
Ive bought and get keys in next couple of week a house to do up for us to live in. But ive a budget and one that people are turning their nose up at. So want to see if anyones done one with a small budget like myself x
@terrig, are you on a time crunch? If not, just do a little at a time as you can. I bet the end result will make it all worth it! I’ve seen some shows with relatively small budgets, so it’s doable, especially if you have some people who will help you with the labor part of it. Good luck! ❤️
Update... house was done in just over the budget of 10k ! Done in 9 weeks. Alot of tears and graft and stress. But me and the kids are settled and getting on in our forever home 💓x
