MOMS! Wanting more.

I’m due any day now and I have a 4 year old. Hubby is successful, but I feel like I want to be solid in something too! Going back to school to get a BS when I have no college credits what so ever, I hear that voice saying “what’s the point?”

The goal is to be a nutritionist. I’m passionate about health, fitness and nutrition. I’ve been certified as a trainer it just wasn’t enough, I wanted more credentials and versatility. I’d love to start my own business and also have the option to work in schools/hospitals.

But thinking 6 years doing something for myself, how the hell would I do it without seeming like my kids would suffer and id miss good moments and be stressed the whole time.

You should look into being a registered dietician. It’s not selfish. If you strive for personal fulfillment, you should definitely go for it. I’m a single mom and with help from my family I was able to get my BSc in biology as a mom of two. I’m going for my BSc in nursing in August and I know the program is going to be a lot of work but I want to do this for myself and for my kids.

Yes, that’s my main goal. That’s why I say 6 years to get my BS/MS so I can become a dietician. I accidentally said nutritionist instead.

I commend you!!!

Don't hold your self back from starting something new especially school. I am a mother of 3 amazing needy kids & I also am a full time student. I had started school in 2012 but found it difficult because I was too worried about my kids and so I stop going to school, let me sy the WORST mistake I could have done. I decided to go back in 2016 & i f I would have never dropped out I would have graduated 2015 well I decided to do all my online classes first then do the classroom classes last I am now to graduate May 2020 with my criminal justice degree & I couldn't be more proud of myself as my kids are of me. & it all worked out great for all of us including my husband.

This is amazing! I just don’t know anything about where to start! I’d have to do all my classes online like you mentioned and do the needed in person classes when the new born can be a little more self sufficient but who do I speak to about coming up with a plan, a course of action?

@sumanacheatham Yes I did exactly the same thing. Well first is finding a school that will actually support you and help you plan your schedule out. Like make sure they have online classes you can take. But speaking with an advisor is a great first start. I got through by doing homework when my two oldest were in school and my little one took a nap then at night I would do another 2 hours of homework.
