How did you guys manage a toddler and newborn without the toddler feeling left out? How were you able to split your time equally? I’m just nervous about the thought of having two kids; a newborn and 3 year old by then.

I'm learning. My toddler has started up attach more to dad, which is great. I spend a lot of time with my newborn obviously, but I try to make it a point to carve out time just for my toddler each day as well. So while newborn is sleeping, put him in a bassinet and focus on my toddler. I have the help of extended family as well luckily, so toddler gets lots of love and attention from them as well.

I’m a single mom and it’s HARD. You just have to be conscious of your toddler. She’ll be watching me when I’m cuddling and playing and stuff with her brother so I automatically switch over to her. A lot of back and forth. Trying not to lose your patience because they start acting up. Making them feel included. Same as @leowifey, we spend a lot of time with both their grandparents, my sister, my aunt. It helps a lot to spread the love

I included my oldest in a lot of things. He liked helping out, so bringing a diaper and "helping" change his brother. Really he just sat next to me and said ew when his brother pooped. When baby was sleeping I'd color or watch movies with him on his little couch. My granny was there for the first week so that helped a whole lot. We had a park right next to the house so she took him out to play while I was passed out from a hard let down after breastfeeding 😂 it was hard because my son who was potty trained before his brother came, ended up getting his pants and we had to pretty much re-potty train him. You will find the balance though.

I’m trying to include her in things involving the preparation of baby girl but she’s not interested in anything 😂. Hopefully when she’s born she’ll do a 360 and won’t bug me so much lol, because now she’s throwing herself on the floor screaming like she’s crazy when she doesn’t get her way and she’s very jealous already. She doesn’t like me holding other people’s kids.

Girl, its hard ! Before baby was here, I involved her in everything that had to do with baby. But once baby got home from the hospital, she gave me the biggest tantrums and she was soo jealous of everything I did for baby. I was going crazy !!! But I survived. Now she is used to him, and he’s a little bigger so she entertains him and talks to him/sing to him.. so it’s adorable! But I still need to learn how to manage my time when both need me.. sometimes both are crying and I am pulling my hair LOL but it’s all worth it at the end.. Just give all your attention to your baby girl and involved her in anything you can ( like bringing a diaper to you, or a blankie over for baby etc ) I talk to her a lot about protecting her little brother and I usually sit down on the floor and have him on the swing while we play for a bit.. than daddy takes over when ever I have to feed baby or cook... take your time... the house will be a mess for the first months and thats okay.. Ive learned that the hard way 😆

@makeupmomplustwo_, lmaoo girl you’re not alone !! Just breath and remember it’s all worth it LOL and your baby girl goes to school so that helps too.. I enjoy my baby the fullest when she’s at school. And I slept the first month and did nothing.. I cooked when hubby got home. Cause you will be drained from the sleepless nights and running after your toddler.. I am NOW nervous about summer vacation cause idk how I’ll do.. probably be at the park most of the days LOL

Have the toddler help with everything! Lay out 3 outfits and have the toddler pick which outfit baby wears each day. Have the toddler bring diapers and wipes to you. When the baby sleeps do one on one activities with the toddler.

When I had my first son my older daughter was a year-and-a-half so she basically was his teacher she taught him more than I did they fight and bicker now but they're older I think it's best to have them close in age now that they're older they definitely feel jealous and some type of way with their little brother but I try to engage them as in bringing the diapers putting on his socks or playing with him
