My OB told me that in her experience the more dilated and effaced someone is when they start the induction, the quicker it is and the easier it is for the mom. You can decline an induction and wait until you go into labor on your own if you’d prefer. You don’t need to have an induction.

It depends on so much more than the baby being so high. Is there a specific reason why you're getting induced? If you're dilated and have a soften cervix then things will go much quicker. Starting at zero it will much longer. But yes the baby will move down. Assuming you're getting pitocin that is supposed to jump start labor.

My own experience. I was induced but was already dilated to 5 cm so it only took four hours to go through the labor process and deliver once I was given pitocin.

No reason. Doctor told me to pick a date after my 40 weeks and it was my last appointment last week... I’ll be 40 week tomorrow. When I went in for my last appointment I was not dilated at all and my cervix was not soft.
