I started my daughter at 4m it took 3 nights of crying but I did intervals of 5 min, 10 and 15 and then kept increasing it. Now she needs to be a little asleep but still half awake and I can put her in the crib and she'll fall asleep on her own, I have a little lion safety blankie with her and her binky which helps calm her as well. Best of luck to you with those precious girls 👭 💗
I think 4 months is still a little too early but it’s your choice. I never did cio but establishing a routine is amazing. Since my kids were new borns at 6:30 is when night mode kicked in. Bath time. Some lavender lotion. Lights dimmed or off. Quiet. It definitely helps. And of course keeping them up longer in the day time. Kids crave structure. I don’t know if you do all this but it helps
Everyone parents different, some use cio some don't as you see. Just go with your gut, my thinking was a few days of doing it VS her not going to sleep on her own meaning sleepless nights for both of us was worth it. I started back at work when she was 4 months so I needed her to be able to sleep on her own
I pretty much keep my girls on the same schedule all throughout the day, but bedtime is a nightmare for 1 of the twins. She'll cry non stop, no matter what I do. By the time she goes to sleep, her sister wakes up. So it's like an ongoing cycle of sleep/wake and I only get 3hrs a day on average. I'm like a walking zombie 99% of the time.
You can definitely sleep train without CIO. I started all 3 of mine at 4 months. There are a lot of adjustments that will be made in the first year as their sleep time will decrease as they grow. But consistency and a good routine are key.
@chasha2017, I can’t remember the exact schedule, but we had a wake, eat, play schedule of around 2-2.5 hour wake time at 4 months. At that age, you’re just trying to get them to get used to being on a routine. My now 10 yr old took to it like a dream. My 3 yr old took a couple of months before we got into a good schedule.

4 months is definitely too early to use CIO on a baby
Just establish a good sleeping schedule and you will be fine
No baby deserves to cry themselves to sleep to me that’s punishment

No baby should have to go through CIO. I just established a night routine with my son and every night he's passed out by 10:30
