I think my first 2 kids went through like 2-3 boxes of the newborn diapers. My third we only used diapers they gave us at the hospital because we started cloth diapers when she got home.
Size one goes up to 10lbs so depends on how big your baby is. My 9lb 7oz baby was in newborn for less then a week. My 8 lb baby was in them for over a month.

With my daughter she had one box and then I moved her to a size 1 because the NB were tight but the size 1 was big

It depends on how big your baby is. My friends baby was immediately in size 1 but my son used newborns for 2 months.

if they put grow them you can always exchange an unopened box at Walmart or target for a different size

We used 2 bags of newborns, and I exchanged the box of newborn we had for a size 1.
