Heat always takes the edge off for me. Have you tried a hot compress?

Put Vick’s in a steaming hot hot bowl of water, ( I usually boil the water and stick it in a bowl, and the stick your head over it, and cover your entire head with a towel. Promise..it works wonders.

I use ice packs to the face lol
