My son has autism he had to take speech because he messed alotnofnwords up like him he she her and couldn't hold a conversations. Now he talks very well and can hold a convo like a adult he's 8

I don't have personal experience with my own kid, but my brother straight didn't talk until three and speech therapy did WONDERS for him even back 16 years ago. He went twice a week and they did play based learning and he caught on pretty fast, took about two/three years but he was able to learn to speak normally.

A year ago my oldest couldn’t put 2 words with an extremely limited vocabulary (his dad/my ex taught him the caveman point and grunt 😠) now he has an expansive vocabulary and consistently says 4/5 word sentences. We just “advanced” to pronouns and I’m so proud of the progress. Having a speech therapist kinda forces kids to talk because we get so comfortable knowing their nonverbal cues

My oldest started at age 3 and was able to stop this year when he was 8. It did WONDERS for him. I remember crying to my mom that I'd never hear him say "I love you." He now speaks better than some adults lol plus he's so confident when he talks. You can't tell that he ever had issues!

Thanks everyone! He talks but he doesn’t speak clearly or pronounce the words right. His therapist says he isn’t holding his tongue right when he’s speaking. I’m hoping to see a little bit of a change in him before he starts preschool in the fall.
