What's it mean if your cervix is "Soft"? I got checked at my last appointment and doctor said my cervix was very soft and dilated about a two. This was 34 weeks and 3 days when I was checked. I'll see them again this Thursday. But I meant to ask what it meant and kept forgetting to. They didn't use any terms like effacement or anything like that. Just "very soft" but didn't say what that mean. They had a OB in training there and he was teaching her things so i didn't want to interrupt to ask.

A woman's cervix goes through changes late in pregnancy and in early labour, so that it can dilate (open) to allow the baby to pass through. ... One of those changes is for your cervix to change from hard / firm, to soft. It also needs to thin out (or efface) before it can dilate

Ehh my cervix was 1cm dilated and my cervix was not soft 4 hours before I delivered my daughter.

Sorry- all that to say: it doesn’t matter what your cervix is doing unless you are having consistent contractions. Cervical checks are not beneficial and can introduce infection.

Nothing really lol my cervix was “soft” from 32 weeks and it still took me three days of induction for me for my body to get ready and it never did I had to end up getting an emergency csection.So in term of progress it can mean absolutely nothing.
