I just read that a baby my daughters age should be sleeping about 16 hours a day...no way she sleeps that much. Shell sleep for an hour and be up for three. Always wakes up when I lay her down anywhere. I'm thinking of investing in a new swing or something so she's not sleep deprived....any suggestions?

Do you have a sound machine? My daughter didn't sleep much until I got her one when she was 18 months old

At that age, my daughter was a terror. She was colic and barely slept, if she was awake longer than 30 minutes, she'd just be screaming until sleeping again. She was a crap sleeper, down for maybe 2 hours at the most and then up screaming for 3 hours. The only thing that worked for us for getting her to sleep was a hair dryer. Babies love sounds that remind them of the womb, and after reading "Happiest Baby on the Block" (we were so desperate we read and tried everything) high frequency noises worked for us. Lulled her off of crying so much and actually sleeping, of course not too close to them. We bought a hair dryer with a cool setting and never looked back!
Oh and swaddling and constant rocking with said hair dryer. It was an insane balance to try to get her to sleep. Right now, at 9 months, she still is obsessed with her glider though haha

That's a really good idea I'll try that! Thanks!
