How Should I Handle My Mom's Comments About My Son's Speech?
Went to visit my mom for the first time in a year (I haven’t been local most of the time). She made some comments about my son being autistic that really ticked me off. Nothing wrong with autistic kiddos but my son’s only ‘sign’ of autism is he doesn’t talk. Both his doctors are not concerned about autism (although have recommended speach therapy). Seriously delayed speech isn’t the only sign and my son has 3 languages spoken to him and basically seems super lazy about talking since he found other ways to communicate with us. I wish he would talk but kids do things on their own time line, not yours. He will talkehen he is ready I am sure. 😩

My 1 st son talked at 1 ish&my 2nd son by almost age 3 all children learn different ;) and did you know Einstein didn’t talk until he was 4 and he was genius ,

Also didn’t he fail math in school? 😂 I just hate how much people are focused on speech. It would make my life so much easier if he would talk but he is super curious and insanely obsevent so I am not really worried but it is hard sometimes when you are bombarded by the negative.

Einstein was on the spectrum though so you never know a lot of people think their all the same but autism is so broad it’s all sorts of signs

Have him checked out my sons only main sign is speech

I just spoke to his ped three weeks ago and his other ped 4 weeks before that and neither seemed concerned with it. 🤷🏼♀️

neither did my sons untill I had him in pre k they said something he’s smarter then the average kid you can’t tell he is social and makes eye contact it’s just his speech but I had him evaluated and I’m waiting for a neuro psychiatrist now his memory is also extremely good he memorizes books

My son is also speech delayed and has been getting speech therapy for almost a year now and he’s starting to talk more. I’m sure he will talk when he’s ready! :)

Maybe he just hasn’t found something he feels is worth talking about.
