Sleep Training, Night 1:

Last night was a nightmare, my baby will be 8 months in abt a week and up until last night she has been sleeping in my bed with a boob in her mouth. Eventually she started nursing to sleep only then letting go but still sleeping in my bed. Last night I started sleep training and attempted to let her fall asleep on her own. She cried on and off for 15 mins on the timer then I went in to comfort her & she fell asleep on me so I put her back down and kept my hand on her and rubbing her belly and when she seemed to have fallen asleep I walked away. Aafter abt 5 mins she started crying again, I let her cry for maybe 3 mins before going back in and did the same thing. When she cried again it lasted about 5 mins then she fell dead asleep. She slept thru the night until about 5 am, I nursed her back to sleep & back in her crib and she slept peacefully until about 15 minutes ago. Hopefully it’ll get easier soon🤞🏼🙏🏼

I had to do this with my daughter last night because she has a nasty cold & isn’t sleeping well & was SOOO exhausted last night but was absolutely refusing to go to sleep. It got to the point she was crying even with me holding her so I had to just walk away & let her go for a minute to cry & I was about in tears because I HATE doing that. But it wasn’t even 30 seconds later she was OUT lol.

Sleep training can be hard. Definitely go in to comfort her, but don’t pick her up. Start with going in after 3 minutes of crying, then wait 5, and then 10, etc. Just be consistent with whatever you do. It will get easier!
