I meant to ask DID anyone just send their child to kindergarten and no pre k?? Or do you highly recommend pre k?
We skipped K4 for our oldest, and he went right to K5. We felt he wasn’t ready at the time. However, he is very far behind the other children in his class, and is now enrolled in summer school to help retain and grow his knowledge to be ready for 1st grade this fall. Our oldest daughter is in K4 right now, and is great academically. I would strongly suggest K4.
I started my daughter in head start and then pre-k in fall l. I think it’s great just for socialization reasons and they learn how to function in a class room setting. The head start program she is in taught them science, math, and phonics. She can free hand her words and spot and spell her sight words. I was super impressed into how much they put into 3 y/o. So when pre-k and kindergarten starts she’ll be ready
Because of how the birthday cut off was my boys each started kindergarten at 6 years old. They didn't go to pre-k.
My oldest skipped Pre-K and starts kindergarten this year. He just wasn't ready yet.
See i feel like thats the same w my daughter.. bt idk if i should jst wait till shes 5 n send her to kindergarten or do pre k this yr
If it's free or you can manage it pre k is a really good idea. Kindergarten teachers always say they can tell what students went to pre k. But if not do some school at home. Counting to 20, recognizing their letters, colors, shapes, and practice tracing letters and numbers are all things that will help for kindergarten.
