So I've heard you can't have acrylic nails on or nail varnish when in labour due to if you need a section or if you want an epidural. Does anyone know the do's and don'ts. It's just I hate not having nail varnish on my toe nails I hate feet and toes in general so I could keep my socks on I guess, but I wanted acrylics on or at least nail varnish on my nails as at the moment 34weeks pregnant I don't feel quite as lady like with the constant sorry for tmi but leaking, and been the size of a buda waddling about I just wanted to feel a little more me.
I had acrylics and gel on my toes during both inductions one of which ended up with me in theatre for emergency forceps. They’re not really bothered if you and your baby are in danger and they need to get baby out
I had gels one hands and feet delivered super early emergency section and they managed to get all the readings they needed
I had a scheduled c section (or was supposed to but he came early so had an emergency one) and was told no nail varnish or acrylics.
I'm the odd one out, when I was induced with my first pretty much the first thing they said after starting me off was I needed to take my pale pink varnish off 'just incase' so since then I've just made sure I don't have any on. Maybe it was just that hospitals policy x
So if I get a light coloured acrylics can I still have an epidural or section if needed I just don't fancy taking them off if I had to because they would kill taking them off xx
I’d say so! I’d stick to pale colours it’s just basically so they can do your pulse and it goes on your finger and the nurse I seen said dark colours are a nightmare xx
My toes were painted and I had acrylics on and I had a c-section. I agree with @jessicab23x, the pulse things never read when I have dark colors on but like if I have French tip on like I did during labor it was fine.
Your aloud them on, I think they say that dark nail varnish/acrylic can’t pick up your pulse on your finger?, but when I went in to get checked over she said light colours will still usually pick it up, but it’s a nightmare with dark colours xx
I was told planned c sections they want acrylics nail varnish etc off I've had 3 inductions and never told me to take my acrylics or nail polish off they asked me to take out my piercings but I couldn't get them out
