C Sections.... I am scheduled for a c section at the end of the month and I am nervous!!! Baby girl is still breach so that’s why I need the c section. I am worried that if I go into labor early I will need an emergency c section and the recovery seems worse then a vagnail birth. What can I expect? And how hard was your recovery? Did it effect baby? Thanks ladies!!

I had to be scheduled for one just in case but my son ended up turning a week before so got to end up doing a vaginal delivery. Maybe she will end up turning

@mamaof2soon, @iuiblessing2018, @mommy_to_4, @ladyblauvelt, Thanks! I am starting to feel better. It’s always good to hear from people who have already been through something. I was sore for 6 weeks after my vaginal birth so maybe this won’t be much worse. It just seems everyone try’s to avoid c sections. To me I will do whatever they say is better for baby. They are checking on her every week but I think she might be too big to turn. Last week she was over 6lbs and was two weeks ahead! It might be better to have a c section since she will be a big girl!

Emergency and planned and no different , same healing time , The only thing with the emergency C-section is that are usually prep you turn out before I tell you not to eat , they may give you a pill to keep you from throwing up because it will be pressing on your inside ,, for me healing was easy both times please ask him for a stool softener and gas pills because you WILL need them , if you can try to nurse that way it’ll help with the contractions afterwards

I had a c section for my breech baby. It was scheduled for 39 weeks but I went into labor at 38 weeks and had my c section then. The recovery wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be but still not pleasant. I had the shakes after they gave me the spinal but was told it was normal. The whole thing goes so quickly just try not to think about it. I talked to my husband during to stay distracted and I didn’t hear or feel a thing. As far as recovery I will say if you’re given the option to get the catheter out after 12 hours and you’re feeling up to it get it out so you can get up and walk around and start recovery. It’s going to hurt to walk and you’ll feel like an old lady moving slow and not wanting to stand up straight so take your time. Take your pain meds don’t be a hero. I took one oxy the day after my c section because I was still in pain after my Tylenol but I think I just overdid it with walking. The first pee after the catheter is out can be a challenge. Don’t be surprised if it’s hard to go.

If your doctor tells you that the steri strips can come off in 7 days it’s ok to believe them that part made me nervous. When you do take them off (if they use them) do it in the shower it’s much easier.

Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!

Ive had 4 C-sections, my first was an emergency C-section but I don't think my recovery was any worse than if it wasnt an emergency. It was my first csection and first C-sections are always the hardest and take the longest to heal bc the muscles have never been thru the trauma of a C-section before. Having an emergency C-section didn't effect her whatsoever. She was born healthy as could be. The nurses want you up and walking around 8 hours after to get things moving. Walking hurts like a bitch, but it helps. The more you walk, the quicker your recovery. Keep up on pain meds, take gasx and a stool softener.

In my personal experience, for me the recovery from a vaginal birth was worse than the csection. I had a vbac with my 2nd baby and many times during recovery I wished I just had another csection. When you have a csection they expect you to walk within 12 hours after the surgery and that will be the hardest part other than the pain but that's what the pain meds are for and you'll want to keep on a consistent schedule with those for a while. Once you get up and move around the easier it will be and that's the way to recovery, just keep moving but don't overdo it.
