My 13yo niece is the same way, and i think her moms too lenient with it. She never eats whats cooked, never eats at the same time as everyone else, but snacks all night/day long, and makes spaghettios when shes really hungry. I was raised that you eat whats in front of you when its cooked, or you go hungry, ans thats how i plan on being with my son
I would have done the same. When I was growing up, if we pulled that the answer was always the same; we could have some bread with butter so there was something in our belly and that was it. It doesn't do any good, rewarding negative actions.
My 12 yr old does this and that's also how I handle it. Every single time we eat he eats very little saying that he's full. A few minutes pass and he's in the pantry or in the fridge looking for snacks. So I tell him that he's not getting anything else because he's supposedly full. And if there's still food left he can eat that if he is actually hungry. He says no. I think he is old enough to say "This is not what I want" instead of saying he's full. I also think he is old enough to eat what everyone else does when everyone else does especially if it's something I made knowing it's something that he likes
