How do I tell when my son goes into deep sleep so I can lay him down without waking him?

My son literally will not sleep without being held. If we put him down he sleeps for maybe 5 minutes before waking up crying 😭 We’ve been trying to swaddle him and still doesn’t help. We even hold him at night which I know isn’t safe but it’s literally the only way we get any sleep at all. But it’s starting to get to hot and he wakes up super sweaty so now I’m at a loss on how to get him to sleep alone

Get a “swaddle up” by born to dream they are life. My son will only sleep being held or in the swaddle up, he’s 2 months and since I started using it at 2 weeks he sleeps at night in his bassinet from 830pm to between 230-5am then feeds and goes right back to sleep. My bestie has a 2 month old as well she wouldn’t sleep unless being held she went and bought a swaddle up 2 weeks ago and now she sleeps in her bassinet.

It’s different then a regular swaddle because it allows them to have their hands by their face so they can soothe themselves but also holds them tight so they don’t startle themselves and feel held.

@mimixtmn, 🤦🏻‍♀️ I just went and bought a new swaddle today and got the swaddle sack or something like that. It does show a hands up way maybe that’ll work. I’ll try that tonight. Thank you. Does the swaddle up work when baby starts to roll over also or no?

@kasey.m, umm good question I’m not sure lol they do have one called the 50/50 I bought couple weeks ago that is a “transitional” one to get baby out of sleeping with it, so the arms zip off and basically it’s then a sleep sack. I bought it since my son needed a bigger size now figured can use it regularly now and when he’s ready to transition.
