@nap.queen, oh no! That’s so scary ! How did they know or find out I’m always scared of that
@momofeach, they didn’t know about the cord until he was being born. I had a high bp reading at my appointment, so they sent me to labor and delivery to monitor it over night. They couldn’t find his heartbeat at labor and delivery, so they sent me for an ultrasound. He was turned face up, so his spine was against mine, which is why the monitors couldn’t get his heart. His head was so low the tech couldn’t even see it. A nurse ended up holding the monitors on my belly all night, which is when they realized that every time I had a contraction, his heart rate would dip down to like 8 and stay there for a minute and then go up when the contraction was over. When my doctor came in the next morning, he decided it’d be better to have him than it would to wait and see what was going on.
When he was born later that day, I heard my doctor say “here comes the head... with the cord. CAN I GET SOME HELP IN HERE?” A bunch of nurses came in and shoved and punched on my stomach to get him out quickly, so they could get the cord off his neck before he was strangled
@nap.queen, wow that’s so crazy scary. I’m glad everything ended up okay though! Sounds like great nurses and doctors!
I never dropped🤷♀️ my water broke the day before my due date and I gave birth to my son the next day
