Can anyone recommend what the best thing to take for a migraine is in pregnancy? I’m diagnosed with migraines from a neurologist and normally take sumitriptan nasal sprays but I can’t get in with my GP to see if they are safe in pregnancy.
Does anyone else suffer with migraines and know what’s best?
I also have a friend who uses the nasal spray. When she was pregnant her doctor told her there’s not any evidence to suggest it’s unsafe in the first and second trimester. She was advised not to use it in the third trimester as it’s been linked to preeclampsia xx
To be honest for me no “home remedies” or over the counter stuff works. You’re probably just better off trying to get to your gp. I’m currently trying out propranolol to try and prevent them from happening. I think you can take them while pregnant but only if it’s really bad xx
@kathleenc, I also pre make a load of juice for her as well and put them in bottles as I have no strength to lift anything up. When poppy has a nap I make it like a little adventure and she sleeps on the sofa with me (I have a big L shaped sofa) she’s really good bless her, she’s grown up with it. She knows if I’m sick as well I need a bowel and she’ll get that for me xxx
@catherinelb25, Aww she sounds like a great little girl💕 I hope Harrison will be just as easy and helpful when he’s older🤞🏼
@kathleenc, sorry babes I don’t get notifications for this app. It only tells me when I come on. Poppy is used to having to help, I no it sounds dreadful but if you ask him to do small bits and bobs when your well and get him used to it when your really poorly he will no what to do xxx
I take sumitriptan tablets, I got advised to stop taking them during pregnancy. Not sure about the nose spray or how different it is! X
