So my best friend is 39 weeks today and she had an ob appointment. They checked her for dilation and she wasn’t dilated at all. Only a little bit thinned out. So she told me she was going home and going to start using her breast pump and start pumping to natural induce labor. I didn’t know what to say because is that even a thing? Do people really do that and does it really work? She’s not dilated at all and she said her midwife suggested it. Iv never heard of that before.

Just an update for everyone! My friends is in labor at the hospital going to have her baby today! So the pumping definitely help. She said she did 15 minutes per boob for 2 days 🥰

Yeah. It is a thing. :) I can say with my daughter I was 39 weeks, not effaced or dilated at all, and my midwife told me I may go to 42 weeks. I had my daughter 4 days later with no attempts at starting labor at all. When baby made her mind up she was ready, nothing was stopping her. :)

So her pumping with her pump will actually work? That’s so crazy to think about Iv never done anything to naturally induce labor beside bouncing on a yoga ball and that didn’t really work

@samwebber, it stimulates hormones so I guess in some cases it can help induce labor but it’s not a for sure thing
