I have been doing this Instagram thing and owning a business for five years now. It’s the same amount of time since I became a mother. It all happened around the same time. People always ask me how I balance it all? I feel like this last year I have really learned so much and really figured it out for myself. There were years of feeling overwhelmed majority of the time. Now, those moments still come but I have learned what triggers them and how I can deal with it in the moment. I have learned that it’s not about balancing, it’s more about priorities in the moment. The goal is to be fully present and engaged in what I am doing in the present moment- the right NOW! When I am with my kids and they need me and I have one foot out in trying to do work stuff, it’s truly when I feel most overwhelmed. Then I end up feeling like I wasn’t succeeding in anything, my kid were only getting half of me and my work was only getting half of me. That’s when I feen spread thin and my anxiety is strong. I know I wear many hats but I am my best self when I put one hat on at a time and fully immerse myself in what ever I am doing and who I am with. But with that comes things that you have to let go of and look away from... and it’s hard. Sometimes that means looking away from the mountain of laundry but sometimes the laundry is the first priority. Sometimes it means looking away from the emails, but then sometimes emails are the priority. It even means saying no to money opportunities (which is so hard) because you know you have other things that are more priority. The people pleaser and perfectionist in me struggles but the more I practice it the easier it becomes. Sometimes you have a million people knocking at your door and saying no is hard, but becomes so freeing when it gives you the opportunity to say yes to what you actually want to do! Saying yes when you actually mean yes!
